The School

Law is part of York Business School. Our law programme started in 2018 and has developed rapidly; in 2020 we opened York St John Law Clinic, in which students give legal advice and assistance under the supervision of experienced staff. Our LLB, MLaw, MLaw Legal Practice, and LLM Commercial Law and Practice, reflect the changes in the legal education and graduate employment landscape and our own identity. Our teaching emphasises personal and skills development, with a focus on employability. We aim to place law in context to further students’ understanding and develop analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We have high expectations of, and aspirations for, our students and we aim to create engaging teaching and assessment which fosters understanding and develops valuable transferable skills. We pride ourselves in knowing our students as individuals and in offering high levels of personal support.
