This includes, but is not limited to, conducting risks assessments, investigating accidents, carrying out audits and checks, developing policies and codes of practice, advising on best practice and compliance, and delivering training.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>The Role&nbsp;</strong></p><p>This is a part time opportunity offering 22.2 hours per week. It is a fixed term contract for 12 months.&nbsp;</p><p>This is an exciting new role that will support the Health &amp; Safety Adviser and Deputy Health &amp; Safety Adviser in organising, monitoring and recording health and safety compliance across York St John University. The successful applicant for this post will be encouraged to think about ways in which they (and their students) can contribute towards the development of the Centre. Engaging the public in the study of linguistics and TESOL will be an important part of the Centre&#39;s work, and ideas about how this might be achieved, both internationally and locally, are welcome.</p><p><strong>The role</strong></p><p>We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in TESOL and Applied Linguistics. &nbsp;The successful candidate will join a team of seventeen Languages and Linguistics academics based within the School of Education, Language and Psychology. We offer BA and MA programmes in British Sign Language, Deaf Studies, English Language and Linguistics, Intercultural Communication, Japanese, Korean, Language and Social Justice, and TESOL. &nbsp;We are looking for someone who can lead our TESOL provision, and as part of that take on the programme leadership role for our flagship English Language and Linguistics, and English Language, Linguistics and TESOL programmes. &nbsp;</p><p><strong>Key requirements</strong></p><p>The successful candidate will have expertise in teaching areas of both TESOL and Applied Linguistics at Undergraduate level and ideally at Masters level.&nbsp;</p><p>It is essential that candidates hold a doctoral level qualification, and are actively engaged in research. Your area of research expertise will include TESOL, and you will be actively engaged in research networks in the TESOL field.</p><p>Research interests in Applied Linguistics and social justice issues would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be supported in developing a solid research profile.&nbsp;</p><p>During term-time and in assessment periods, the majority of your work will involve teaching in a variety of settings, including small group tutorials/seminars and lectures; assessment; and the provision of pastoral and academic support to students. The successful candidate will also be supported in building on their solid research profile. You are likely to have the opportunity to teach in the areas in which you research, and to involve your students in your research through the York St John &#39;Students-as-Researchers&#39; scheme.</p><p><strong>Required skills and experience<br></strong></p><p>The ideal candidate will have experience of programme/course leadership, ideally in the TESOL field, with experience of externally accredited TESOL programmes and experience of setting up and/or contributing to community language learning initiatives. Across all our programmes, we emphasise personal and skills development, employability, and placing law in context to strengthen analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>The Role</strong></p><p>We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced candidate to join us as a Senior Lecturer in Law. This role is ideal for a candidate with academic skills and substantial experience supervising students in a legal advice setting, particularly within a university law clinic environment. You will play a key role in designing and delivering high-quality teaching and mentoring our students in both academic and practical aspects of law as well as supporting less-experienced colleagues.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Required Skills and Experience&nbsp;</strong></p><p>The successful candidate must have significant experience supervising students within a university law clinic and expertise in two or more of the following areas of Law: mental health law, conveyancing, medical law, property law, or asylum and immigration. Additionally, we expect to see proven ability to deliver high-quality, student-focused teaching across a range of settings: lectures, small groups/ seminars, developing assessments and supporting students through pastoral and academic tutoring. Candidate should have Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (or equivalent) and a strong commitment to supporting student learning, employability, and professional development are required.
