The Team

The Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Team is responsible for religious provision and pastoral care for all staff and students. We provide spaces and opportunities for reflection, listening, confidential support, prayer, worship, meditation, socialising and spiritual exploration. In doing this we work closely with teams across the university, from Student Life to academic schools.

The role

This Chaplaincy Administrator role, reporting to the Chaplain, assists the Chaplains and ensures the smooth running of the Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Office. This will include, but is not limited to, looking after the Chaplaincy budget on a weekly basis; keeping up to date with risk assessments and health and safety requirements; liaising over Chapel bookings and providing support with events. The post holder will also manage the Chaplaincy’s social media accounts and liaise with the Design team regarding publicity for Chaplaincy events.

Required skills and experience

The successful candidate will have an organised nature which allows for successful time-management and the ability to prioritise tasks. They will demonstrate the ability to build constructive relationships with staff and students, offering sensitivity and warmth to everyone visiting or using the Chaplaincy, regardless of their background, culture or faith. Awareness of major Christian festivals and customs would be an advantage but is not essential. This role will require the successful candidate to obtain a DBS check.

• A maternity cover position which is full-time (37 hours a week) and offered on a Fixed Term Contract (FTC) basis of a maximum of 12 months. 
• A substantive position which is part-time.  It is envisaged this will be a term time only position (32 weeks a year) and be 25 hours per week.  Exact working patterns will be formalised with the successful candidate.

The Team

The Placements Team are part of the wider Student Success and Learning Services Directorate, providing centralised support for professional placements, working closely with the Schools of Health and Education.

It is an exciting and challenging time for the Team as professional placements across the University are increasing both in terms of student numbers and the programmes being supported. This expansion offers a great opportunity not only to increase the size of the team but to also develop relationships and ways of working in new areas.

The Role

Helping to develop the next generation of Health & Education professionals, the role will support students undertaking professional placements as part of their course.

As part of the team the postholder will be required to perform a number of tasks and these include:

• liaising with a wide variety of partners to develop and maintain relationships and to generate placement opportunities
• working closely with academic colleagues on the delivery of placement opportunities
• allocate students to placements exercising appropriate judgement and decision making
• arranging logistics and communicating with students to ensure the smooth running of the placements
• collating and generating a wide range of data for a variety of purposes.

As part of the team the postholder will have opportunities for:

• improving existing systems and processes
• working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
• developing a working knowledge of specialist software.

The Placements Team work under the University's agile working scheme allowing flexibility around working patterns and locations.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate must be willing and able to create relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Adaptability and problem solving are crucial to the role. The postholder must be computer literate in common Microsoft programmes and be able to develop competency in new technologies.

The maintenance team are responsible for carrying out reactive, cyclical and planned projects on university teaching and accommodation buildings around the city. A team of 24 of the core construction trades work closely with Estates to keep the University teaching areas up to standard along with the daily reactive works reported by staff and students.

The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance manager you will be required to carry out a variety of general Joinery tasks on our estate, including 1^st and 2^nd fix refurbishment, repairs and alterations to existing joinery, lock installation and repairs, manufacture of bespoke joinery products such as doors, windows, mouldings etc and some general building tasks. As part of a multi skilled team you may also be required to work across trades from time to time to assist other members of the team. The work will be across student accommodation and university teaching spaces. Prioritizing your work daily that is issued through the Archibus system you will have autonomy to gather quotes for materials which Estate’s admin will order or order yourself direct from University suppliers.

Required skills and experience 

The successful candidate will hold an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and will have served a recognized apprenticeship, be able to demonstrate good all-round competence and experience of working safely on a wide range of building types, be physically fit, able to work at height and be able to undertake all relevant tasks safely

Prioritizing your work daily that is issued through the Archibus system you will autonomy to gather quotes for materials which Estates admin will order or order direct from University suppliers.

Required skills and experience 

The successful candidate will hold an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and will have served a recognised apprenticeship, hold core domestic gas certification, heating and water appliances as a minimum and be able to demonstrate good all-round competence and experience of working on a wide range of plumbing and mechanical installations in a variety of building types.
