The successful applicant for this post will be encouraged to think about ways in which they (and their students) can contribute towards the development of the Centre. Engaging the public in the study of linguistics and TESOL will be an important part of the Centre&#39;s work, and ideas about how this might be achieved, both internationally and locally, are welcome.</p><p><strong>The role</strong></p><p>We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in TESOL and Applied Linguistics. &nbsp;The successful candidate will join a team of seventeen Languages and Linguistics academics based within the School of Education, Language and Psychology. We offer BA and MA programmes in British Sign Language, Deaf Studies, English Language and Linguistics, Intercultural Communication, Japanese, Korean, Language and Social Justice, and TESOL. We are looking for someone who can take the lead on our undergraduate TESOL provision, and with the potential to take on programme leadership for our flagship English Language and Linguistics, and English Language, Linguistics and TESOL programmes.</p><p><strong>Key requirements</strong></p><p>The successful candidate will have expertise in teaching areas of both TESOL and Applied Linguistics at Undergraduate level and ideally at Masters level.&nbsp;</p><p>It is essential that candidates hold a doctoral level qualification, and are actively engaged in research. Your area of research expertise will include TESOL, and you will be actively engaged in research networks in the TESOL field.</p><p>Research interests in Applied Linguistics and social justice issues would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be supported in developing a solid research profile.&nbsp;</p><p>During term-time and in assessment periods, the majority of your work will involve teaching in a variety of settings, including small group tutorials/seminars and lectures; assessment; and the provision of pastoral and academic support to students. The successful candidate will also be supported in building on their solid research profile. You are likely to have the opportunity to teach in the areas in which you research, and to involve your students in your research through the York St John &#39;Students-as-Researchers&#39; scheme.</p><p><strong>Required skills and experience<br></strong></p><p>The ideal candidate will have experience of programme/course leadership, ideally in the TESOL field, with experience of externally accredited TESOL programmes and experience of setting up and/or contributing to community language learning initiatives. Sport is a vibrant department within the School and we currently offer a range of programmes across foundation year, undergraduate and postgraduate levels of study. Notably, we hold validation by the Society of Sports Therapists (SST) and endorsement from the Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES), for our BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Therapy and BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science programmes, respectively.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>The Role</strong></p><p>We are seeking to appoint a full-time, Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Therapy to teach across both the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Therapy and BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science programmes. The majority of your work will involve teaching in a variety of settings, including small group tutorials/seminars/practical and lectures; assessment; and the provision of pastoral and academic support to students. You will also positively contribute towards research generation and knowledge exchange within the department. The successful candidate will join a well-established Sport Department team based in the School of Science, Technology, and Health at York St John University&rsquo;s 57-acre bespoke sports park.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Require Skills and Experience</strong></p><p>It is essential that you hold a PhD/Doctorate in Sport Science (or related discipline) and must be an accredited member of the SST, Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and/or British Association of Sport Rehabilitators (BASRaT). You will have teaching experience in modules related to Sport Science and Sports Therapy. The postholder will have the opportunity to shape and deliver lecture-, seminar- and tutorial-based learning and teaching, and assessment. They will also contribute to research supervision and provide pastoral and academic support to students. The Lecturer will undertake independent research leading to outputs and funding applications and contribute effectively to academic citizenship requirements in the programme. Programmes in the Fine Art department pride themselves with delivering an ambitious, rigorous and challenging Critical Studies curriculum that enables practice students to produce nationally recognised art-historical and -theoretical writing, for example, winning the 2025 Association for Art History (AAH) UG Dissertation Award and the 2026 Henry Moore Institute PG Dissertation Award.&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true"><strong>Required skills and experience</strong></p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">Candidates will have a track record of contributing to the learning, teaching and assessment provision of Critical Studies modules for practitioners at undergraduate level. The successful applicant will have an in-depth knowledge of the theoretical, historical and contextual dialogues within contemporary visual practices, and be able to communicate with practice-based students in clear and engaging ways. The successful candidate will have a PhD in art history, art theory or research-engaged practice and the ability to develop, teach and organise module content more broadly than their specific research area. The school is home to a vibrant culture of creative practice-based research across a wide range of media.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;"><strong>The Role</strong></p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">We are seeking to appoint an Academic Associate in Media Production to start September 2026.<br>&nbsp;As an Academic Associate you will undertake a Practice-led PhD within the School of the Arts whilst also being employed by the University to support teaching and assessment on our undergraduate programmes (0.5 FTE).</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The Academic Associate is a fixed-term position for four-years and includes a UK tuition fee waiver/scholarship for a full-time Practice-led PhD. Please note that a condition of the post is full time study.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">Timetabled teaching duties during our two semesters will not exceed six contact hours per week on two working days, and may include delivery of seminars, workshops and tutorials.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">Training is provided to support Academic Associates develop their teaching-related skills and professional competencies alongside their doctoral research.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">We are inviting Academic Associates to conduct a Practice-led PhD under the supervision of Professor Steve Rawle and Associate Professor and Associate Head of School for Production Evi Karathanasopoulou.
