We have strong regional, national and international collaborations and a growing research profile.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>The Role</strong>&nbsp;</p><p>We are seeking to make a number of senior professorial appointments to strengthen our research environment, support collective research development, and enhance our growing reputation for internationally recognised research. The primary purpose of the role is to provide senior research leadership, experience and expertise to strengthen the University&rsquo;s research environment and to support the development of internationally excellent research within Unit of Assessment 17 (Business and Management Studies), including in preparation for REF 2029.&nbsp;</p><p>The role will include structured mentorship of early- and mid-career researchers, contribution to staff and PGR CPD activities, support for grant development, and active engagement in collaborative research and scholarly leadership, with particular interest in candidates who bring experience of developing inclusive research cultures and enabling colleagues at different career stages to flourish.&nbsp;</p><p>Postholders will be expected to work closely with School Research Leads across both sites, contribute to relevant School and Campus research committees, and support the delivery of agreed research actions, including the development of research events and conferences.&nbsp;</p><p>Ideal candidates will have a strong international research profile, a sustained record of high-quality outputs and partnership development, and expertise aligned with one or more of the research areas outlined above.&nbsp;</p><p>These appointments are fractional and fixed-term, offering flexibility to candidates wishing to align the role with a broader portfolio of academic or industry-based work. Appointments may be attached to either the York Campus or the London Campus, with opportunities to contribute across both locations as appropriate. Because of the fractional nature of the appointments, candidates do not need to relocate and may undertake the role alongside an existing academic or professional position.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Key Requirements</strong>&nbsp;</p><p>Commensurate with a professorial appointment, the successful candidate will demonstrate a strong and sustained record of internationally excellent research outputs, alongside a strong track record of research income generation. Evidence of effective mentorship, leadership, and collaborative research activity is also essential. &nbsp;Evidence of collegial leadership, mentorship, and contribution to inclusive academic environments will be particularly valued. The successful applicant for this post will be encouraged to think about ways in which they (and their students) can contribute towards the development of the Centre. Engaging the public in the study of linguistics and TESOL will be an important part of the Centre&#39;s work, and ideas about how this might be achieved, both internationally and locally, are welcome.</p><p><strong>The role</strong></p><p>We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in TESOL and Applied Linguistics. &nbsp;The successful candidate will join a team of seventeen Languages and Linguistics academics based within the School of Education, Language and Psychology. We offer BA and MA programmes in British Sign Language, Deaf Studies, English Language and Linguistics, Intercultural Communication, Japanese, Korean, Language and Social Justice, and TESOL. &nbsp;We are looking for someone who can lead our TESOL provision, and as part of that take on the programme leadership role for our flagship English Language and Linguistics, and English Language, Linguistics and TESOL programmes. &nbsp;</p><p><strong>Key requirements</strong></p><p>The successful candidate will have expertise in teaching areas of both TESOL and Applied Linguistics at Undergraduate level and ideally at Masters level.&nbsp;</p><p>It is essential that candidates hold a doctoral level qualification, and are actively engaged in research. Your area of research expertise will include TESOL, and you will be actively engaged in research networks in the TESOL field.</p><p>Research interests in Applied Linguistics and social justice issues would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be supported in developing a solid research profile.&nbsp;</p><p>During term-time and in assessment periods, the majority of your work will involve teaching in a variety of settings, including small group tutorials/seminars and lectures; assessment; and the provision of pastoral and academic support to students. The successful candidate will also be supported in building on their solid research profile. You are likely to have the opportunity to teach in the areas in which you research, and to involve your students in your research through the York St John &#39;Students-as-Researchers&#39; scheme.</p><p><strong>Required skills and experience<br></strong></p><p>The ideal candidate will have experience of programme/course leadership, ideally in the TESOL field, with experience of externally accredited TESOL programmes and experience of setting up and/or contributing to community language learning initiatives. Across all our programmes, we emphasise personal and skills development, employability, and placing law in context to strengthen analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>The Role</strong></p><p>We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced candidate to join us as a Senior Lecturer in Law. This role is ideal for a candidate with academic skills and substantial experience supervising students in a legal advice setting, particularly within a university law clinic environment. You will play a key role in designing and delivering high-quality teaching and mentoring our students in both academic and practical aspects of law as well as supporting less-experienced colleagues.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Required Skills and Experience&nbsp;</strong></p><p>The successful candidate must have significant experience supervising students within a university law clinic and expertise in two or more of the following areas of Law: mental health law, conveyancing, medical law, property law, or asylum and immigration. Additionally, we expect to see proven ability to deliver high-quality, student-focused teaching across a range of settings: lectures, small groups/ seminars, developing assessments and supporting students through pastoral and academic tutoring. Candidate should have Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (or equivalent) and a strong commitment to supporting student learning, employability, and professional development are required.
