How To Apply
If you would like to apply for a post, please click the ‘Apply Online’ button within the job advert and you’ll be asked to register and create an account on the site. If you have already created an account please log in. Be sure to provide an email address that you use regularly as we’ll keep in touch with you via email about your application. Once you have created an account and logged in you will be able to view the online application form.
Application Form
The online application form can be completed in stages and you can login/logout at any time. The form automatically saves as you enter your information and it is simple to move backwards and forwards within the form at any time prior to submission. Help is available at each stage to guide you through the form.
You will be asked to submit statements relating to the key knowledge, experience and skills required for the role. Please draw upon specific examples from your work experience / education / voluntary work to demonstrate to the shortlisting panel the extent to which you meet the criteria for the role. It is important to remember that this is the only information that the panel will use when making their shortlisting decisions so please ensure that you provide enough relevant detail within this section to demonstrate the skills and experience you would be able to offer within the role. There is no word limit.
Before final submission, you can preview your application and can then choose to refine or submit the form. You will not be able to make any amendments to your application once it has been submitted.
All applications should be submitted by 23.59 on the closing date (unless the advert states otherwise).
Once you have submitted your application, you will see in the 'My Applications' area that the status of your application will be "submitted" and it will also show the date of submission.
You will receive an acknowledgment email, confirming receipt.
Alternative application formats
We are able to provide full job details and an application form in alternative formats, if required. If you have a requirement for this then please do not hesitate to contact the HROD Team via email vacancies@yorksj.ac.uk. Please provide details of the format you require.
After the closing date
After the closing date a shortlisting exercise will take place whereby the panel will assess all applicants against the requirements of the role.
You will receive an email confirming whether your application has been successful or unsuccessful. Due to the volume of applications received, we are unable to offer feedback at the shortlisting stage of the process.
The selection process
All shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview at our campus or online via Microsoft Teams. Depending on the role that you have applied for the process may include additional selection methods, such as a presentation or ability test, all of which would usually take place on one day.
If you are invited to interview your invitation will be sent to you via email no later than one week prior to the interview date wherever possible, to provide you with notice to prepare. This email will include details of where to report to, the structure of the assessment process and any preparation you might be required to do in advance.
After the interview you will be contacted to confirm the outcome and offered feedback.
Disabled applicants
We are a ‘Disability Confident’ employer. In accordance with this scheme we guarantee an interview to any candidates who declare at application that they have a disability and also meet the minimum criteria for the role. If you are a disabled applicant and would like to discuss your application or request assistance at any point during the recruitment process please do not hesitate to contact our HROD Team via vacancies@yorksj.ac.uk.
