Teams within the Directorate are responsible for attracting applicants to the University, communicating with current students and alumni, and delivering events. &nbsp;</p><p><strong>The role</strong></p><p>We&#39;re looking for a creative, experienced communications officer to join the Communications team at our award-winning campus in York. You&rsquo;ll join a busy, purposeful environment as we deliver our University for Social Impact strategy.</p><p>This role, reporting to the Head of Communications and Media Relations, is responsible for understanding our staff and student audiences, and identifying the best ways to share key messages, promote our achievements, highlight our community contribution and showcase our research influence. In addition to working on internal communications and external media relations, you&rsquo;ll play a key role in ensuring that students feel heard, supported and informed.</p><p>The post-holder will support colleagues to use the University&rsquo;s brand guidelines, clear and compassionate approach to communications, narrative and tone of voice.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Required skills and experience</strong></p><ul style="list-style-type: disc;"><li style="margin-left: 24px;">professional experience of shaping clear messages and writing compelling copy for diverse audiences&nbsp;</li><li style="margin-left: 24px;">digital skills to deploy communications across multiple platforms</li><li style="margin-left: 24px;">the ability to work across external and internal communications by building and maintaining relationships with media contacts, community partners and external stakeholders, as well as with our staff and students.</li><li style="margin-left: 24px;">a creative and inclusive approach to coordinating and delivering communications</li><li style="margin-left: 24px;">experience of the HE environment is an advantage, but more important is a track record of delivering engaging communications activity and campaigns, with the confidence and ability to provide strategic communications advice to colleagues.</li></ul><p><strong>Additional information</strong></p><p>For informal enquiries please contact Amy Lansdown-Nasson, Head of Communications and Media Relations at at <a href="mailto:xxx@yorksj.ac.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">a.lansdown-nasson@yorksj.ac.uk</a>.&nbsp;</p><p>Please visit our LinkedIn profile to learn more about our contribution &ndash; <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/school/york-st.-john-university/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">https://www.linkedin.com/school/york-st.-john-university/</a>&nbsp;</p><p>The selection process will include an interview. &nbsp;Further details will be provided if you are shortlisted for interview.</p><p data-pasted="true">Unfortunately this role is not eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship however we welcome your application if you are able to evidence right to work in the UK via an alternative route.</p><p><br></p>
