The school 

Biomedical Science is a fundamental component of the School of Science, Technology & Health, alongside other provision in Health, Sport and Computing and hosts the Disease Detection and Prevention research group (DDaP), bringing together researchers with interests in understanding the biological basis of disease and in developing new methods to asses health, predict outcomes and monitor treatment related improvements. The discipline area is highly regarded, holding both RSB and IBMS accreditation and offers apprenticeships, undergraduate and postgraduate research degrees with good regional connections alongside a welcoming and inclusive teaching and learning ethos.  

The role 

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic academic with a strong research profile to join our biomedical science team to support their research and the university’s research strategy. The role holder will have principal responsibility for developing and leading biomedical research at York St John, building a strong research culture and developing a profile at national and international level. The candidate will have a track record of attracting funding and successfully supporting postgraduate research students. 

Key requirements 

The successful candidate will have A PhD in a relevant discipline; A strong body of publications of international quality; A track record of attracting research funding; Experience of, and commitment to, supervising graduate research students; The ability to make a contribution to teaching across the portfolio as required; Good administrative, organisational, teamwork and communication skills; Importantly, they will share our commitment to social justice and be fully committed to providing inclusive educational experiences that improve the lives of our students, colleagues and communities. The ideal candidate will be one who inspires colleagues and leads them with integrity.
